- A new video published by the Houthis demonstrates an attack on a bulk carrier in the waters of the Red Sea on Monday.
- The footage hasn’t been verified yet.
- It would be the first of its type to be surfaced by the Yemen-based terrorist organization since they started launching missile and drone attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea area in mid-November last year, in solidarity with the Palestinians against Israel’s ongoing military movements in Gaza.
The grainy video indicates an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) taking off and simultaneously targeting the Maltese-flagged bulk carrier underway. A time stamp implies that the footage was captured on 29 April this year, between 09:39 and 09:42, as the drone approaches the superstructure from its stern before cutting out.
Renewed Attacks
In the past week, the rebels have renewed their attacks. The US Central Command reported on Monday that between 10:00 a.m. and 5:20 p.m. (Sanaa time), the Houthis shot three anti-ship ballistic missiles along with three UAVs from Yemen into the waters of the Red Sea, targeting the vessel. There were no injuries, and the vessel could continue on the voyage.
