China’s Hudong-Zhonghua has achieved another milestone, launching the second LNG dual-fuel 23,000-TEU containership for French shipping leader CMA CGM, reports LNG Prime.

Vessel Launch and Key Milestones

The CMA CGM Saint Germain was floated at Changxing Island on January 21.

This marks the second vessel in a four-ship order placed in 2022, with keel-laying held in September 2024.

Impressive Specifications and Capacity

Measuring 399 meters in length and 61.3 meters in width, the vessels boast a capacity of 23,872 containers.

It makes them among the largest and most advanced LNG-powered ships globally.

Advanced Dual-Fuel Technology

The containerships feature WinGD dual-fuel engines and GTT’s 18,600-cbm Mark III containment tech.

It focuses on sustainable and efficient shipping.

Previous Deliveries and Fleet Expansion

Hudong-Zhonghua and Jiangnan have already delivered nine similar vessels to CMA CGM, with the last, Sorbonne, joining the fleet in 2021.

The new series strengthens CMA CGM’s commitment to greener maritime operations.
