A 10,000-teu box ship has involved in a collision with a coastal box barge in Vietnam. The Thanh Vien website stated that MOL Brilliance and the coastal box barge Cai Mep 28 collided with each other in the Cai Mep-Thi Vai river on 17th December. It was reported that the 10,000-teu ship was leaving Vung Tau during which the four men barge collided at right angles where the small box barge can be seen beneath MOL Brilliance’s bow. The barge, with four crew on board, was breached and started to list to port. Both vessels were moved a kilometre from the site so that boxes could be lifted from the barge. The boxship remains anchored in Vung Tau. An investigation has begun.
