HyCC has officially announced its plans to develop H2Next, a large-scale electrolyzer project situated in Rotterdam. This initiative is specifically aimed at supporting the industrial decarbonization efforts within the region and potentially beyond, reports Container News.

Green Hydrogen Project

During the recent World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam, HyCC announced its plans for a significant green hydrogen project. The company has finalized an agreement with the Port of Rotterdam Authority, reserving a site at the Maasvlakte’s inaugural hydrogen conversion park. This location is strategically advantageous due to its proximity to future offshore wind farm connections.

The project, named H2Next, is designed to produce approximately 25,000 tons of green hydrogen annually. This output will be crucial for decarbonizing key industrial sectors within the Rotterdam port area, including refineries, the chemical sector, and mobility.

Furthermore, by leveraging the upcoming national hydrogen network and the Delta Rhine Corridor, H2Next will also be able to supply green hydrogen to industrial hubs across Northwest Europe, reinforcing Rotterdam’s role as a vital energy gateway. HyCC is currently in the final stages of the project’s study phase and aims to reach a final investment decision by 2028, with the first hydrogen production expected around 2030.
