Hydraulic Oil Spill Off Kiel

On Sep 16, a Ro-ro cargo ship “SCA OSTRAND” suffered hydraulic oil spill on board and reportedly some oil leaked overboard off Kiel port, Germany.

Alert crew immediately activated anti-pollution plan and alerted the local authorities. Nearly 30 fire rescue team along with water police and environmental authorities were on scene fencing off with booms and absorbing the spill.

The oil booms remained in basin 1 of the port until the departure of the vessel to Malmö at 5 p.m. Cargo operations were not hampered by the incident.
