On his visit to India, IMO Secretary-General Mr. Arsenio Dominguez emphasized the country’s growing role in sustainable shipping and seafarer welfare. During discussions with Shri T.K. Ramachandran, Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW), and senior government officials, key topics included green shipping, sustainable port infrastructure, and the adoption of advanced maritime technologies.

Mr. Dominguez recognized India’s contributions to maritime sustainability and reaffirmed IMO’s commitment to supporting initiatives in seafarer welfare, innovation, and environmental responsibility. He also praised the Indian Navy’s role in ensuring maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region.

The visit reinforced the strong partnership between India and IMO, with a shared vision of advancing clean energy solutions, improving maritime safety, and fostering technological innovation for a more sustainable and resilient global shipping industry.
