According to an article published in the Seatrade-Maritime News, it has been raining heavily in the Panama Canal watershed recently.

Draught for neo-panamax locks increased

The incessant raining has lead Canal authorities to reconsider the maximum authorized draught for the vessels transiting the new neo-panamax locks as the levels of Gatun Lake are rising.

Situation closely monitored

Effective immediately, and until further notice, the maximum authorized draught allowed for vessels transiting the neo-panamax locks will be 13.72m (45.0 feet) TFW.

The ACP will continue to closely monitor the level of Gatun Lake in order to announce future draft adjustments in a timely manner.
