Downgrading of Threat Levels in the Sulu-Celebes Seas

The Philippine Government’s military operations in Zamboanga, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi led to the dismantling of key bases of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG). As a result, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has downgraded the threat level of the crew for ransom’ in the Sulu-Celebes Seas from ‘MODERATE’ to ‘MODERATE LOW,’ meaning incidents are now considered less likely to occur.

Updated Advisory from ReCAAP ISC

ReCAAP ISC has updated its advisory, urging vessels transiting the Sulu-Celebes Seas to remain vigilant and adopt preventive measures. Shipmasters and crew are encouraged to report all incidents to the Philippine and Malaysian authorities for swift action.
