A crew member of Liberian-flagged merchant ship MSC Mia Summer, which was sailing 120 nautical miles off the coast of Larnaca was airlifted from onboard on Sunday afternoon after the Larnaca Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) dispatched a helicopter.
The crew aboard the vessel sent a message to shore requiring immediate medical assistance.
Once it received the call for help, the JRCC activated the Nearchos national search and rescue plan and dispatched a special police aircraft with a doctor on board.

The injured crew member was transported to Larnaca general hospital, where he arrived at 6.20pm.
