Intertanko, the global shipping representative body for independent tanker owners, is undergoing a major leadership change. As Rolf Westfal-Larsen Jr steps in as Chairman and Tim Wilkins prepares to take over as Managing Director, the organization remains focused on navigating the challenges of the tanker industry, including sustainability and decarbonization.

Leadership Transition at Intertanko

Rolf Westfal-Larsen Jr has been elected as the new Chairman of Intertanko, succeeding Paolo d’Amico, who served as Chairman for six years. Westfal-Larsen Jr is currently the CEO of Westfal-Larsen Management AS, a global shipping company based in Norway.

Outgoing Chairman Paolo d’Amico praised his successor, stating that Westfal-Larsen Jr will uphold Intertanko’s values of quality and forward-thinking.

A Legacy of Leadership

Westfal-Larsen Jr expressed gratitude for his election, highlighting the significance of leading Intertanko during a critical period of transition.

His leadership comes at a time when the shipping industry is focusing heavily on sustainability and innovation.

A New Managing Director Takes the Helm

After 12 years as Managing Director, Katherina Stanzel is stepping down and will be succeeded by Tim Wilkins, who has been with Intertanko for over 25 years.

Wilkins is currently serving as Deputy Managing Director and Environment Director.

During her tenure, Stanzel guided Intertanko through significant industry challenges and enhanced its influence as a leading representative body.

She expressed pride in working with the organization’s members and Secretariat team.
