Drewry’s Intra-Asia Container Index (IACI), which tracks spot container freight rates across 18 key intra-Asia routes, slipped by 2% in the fortnight ending 31 August 2025, settling at $582 per 40ft container.
Compared to August 2024, the index is down 35%, underscoring the sustained decline in intra-Asia market rates amid weaker trade demand and rising supply pressures.
About the IACI
The Intra-Asia Container Index provides a weighted average of actual spot freight rates across major intra-Asia trade lanes. Updated fortnightly, the index includes 18 route-specific assessments as well as a composite benchmark, with all rates reported in USD per 40ft container (excluding origin and destination terminal handling charges).
