Wärtsilä elevates offshore dynamic positioning capabilities with the introduction of a new high-performance thruster and propulsion control package, delivering improved operational efficiency and accuracy, reports Wärtsilä.
Advanced Thruster Technology
The solution integrates Wärtsilä’s WST-E embedded electric steerable thruster and WST-R retractable thrusters.
Featuring an 8-degree tilted propeller shaft, the retractable thrusters minimize losses in interaction with the hull and between thrusters, boosting effective thrust by up to 15 to 20%.

The innovative thruster design reduces the need for installed power, enhancing efficiency and cutting emissions and fuel consumption.
Rapid thrust response ensures quick maneuvering, enhancing operational safety and efficiency for offshore vessels.
Comprehensive Product Suite
The introduction comprises the new Wärtsilä WST-E thruster, three new WST-R retractable thrusters (WST-09R, WST-14R, and WST-18R), and an updated ProTouch Remote Propulsion Control System user interface.
Wärtsilä’s transverse thrusters are also available for integration, providing a comprehensive solution package.
