IRS And SeaTech Sign MOU To Drive Green Shipping Initiatives

According to Ajot reports, the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) and SeaTech have signed an MOU focusing on green maritime initiatives, including the Green Tug Transition Program (GTTP) and “Harit Nauka – Green Transition Guidelines” outlined by India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways. The partnership aims to promote sustainable vessel operations through design, retrofitting, and compliance efforts.

Green Transition Goals and Compliance

SeaTech will develop vessel designs aligned with the Green Transition Guidelines, while IRS will oversee their classification, ensuring adherence to national and international regulatory standards. The collaboration includes retrofitting inland vessels to meet sustainability goals.

Joint Training and Research Initiatives

Both organizations will offer joint training programs to enhance industry knowledge and technical skills. IRS will provide specialized plan approval training to SeaTech engineers. The MOU also encourages collaborative research on decarbonization, alternative fuels, and vessel efficiency to address global maritime challenges.
