Italy’s Guardia di Finanza said that the Italian Authorities have arrested the captain as well as the eight crew members of the ship MV Jupiter after the seizure of 20 tons of Hashish.
The reports say that about three weeks ago the authorities received a tip about the smuggling of drugs onboard the cargo vessel. The finance police boarded the ship at sea and escorted it to the Port of Cagliari. Nearly after 18 days of search, the authorities found 821 packages of hashish weighing 20.5 tons in a ballast tank of the bow. The value of the packages were about 200 million euros( 227 million dollars).
The Guardia Civil in Spain and Europol, as well as the French and Portuguese authorities, aided the finance police in the seizure.
