The nation’s capital, Tokyo, reported 31,878 cases of daily infections on Thursday, breaking the 30,000 thresholds for the first time, prompting Japan’s top government spokesman to call for the utmost level of caution against COVID-19 infections.
At a routine press conference, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno declared that “new infections had reached the greatest level ever nationally.”
“We must proceed with the utmost caution and keep a careful eye on the infection situation, including the issue of access to medical services.”
