The Jacksonville Port Authority (Jaxport) in Florida has announced the launch of a direct container service with seven destinations in northern Europe via the Mediterranean Shipping Co. (MSC), reports Port News.

An ideal service

MSC’s “ScanBaltic to USA” route offers Jacksonville’s only direct container service to Scandinavia, Jaxport officials said in a press release.

The rotation includes stops in Lithuania, Poland, Sweden, Germany, England, Belgium, France, New York, Philadelphia, and Norfolk, Virginia.

The biweekly service will begin calling the SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal late next month. It’s MSC’s fifth container service at Jaxport, port officials said.

The service is “ideal” for several commodities, such as food and beverage, automotive parts and forest products, they added.

CSX, Norfolk Southern Railway and Florida East Coast Railway serve the port.
