Reliable Solutions

The recent order for Cargo Handling and Fuel Gas Supply systems for five new Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs) follows a similar order placed by Jiangnan Shipyard in 2023 for four VLECs. These new VLECs, with a capacity of 99,000 cubic meters, are specifically designed to transport ethane and will utilize ethane as their fuel source. Wärtsilä’s scope of work for this project includes providing basic and detailed engineering services, as well as overseeing the supervision and commissioning of the Cargo Handling and Fuel Gas Supply systems at Jiangnan Shipyard.

“Our strategy is always to build the most optimised, efficient, and integrated vessels possible. For this, we have opted to fit these new vessels with various technologically advanced and highly reliable solutions,” said by Mr. Zhao Zhenhua – Deputy Director of Supply Department, Jiangnan Shipyard.
