Jiangnan Shipyard Wins Order For Two LNG Carriers

  • Jiangnan Shipyard for the purchase of two 175,000 m3 LNG carriers at a cost of US$235 million per ship.

  • Taiping 26 and Taiping 27 signed bareboat charter contracts with SDME (SG) respectively.

On March 27, China Taiping Insurance Holdings announced that the Group’s non-wholly-owned subsidiary Taiping & Sinopec Financial Leasing and its wholly-owned subsidiaries Taiping 26 and Taiping 27 signed two ship construction contracts with China Shipbuilding Trading and Jiangnan Shipyard for the purchase of two 175,000 m3 LNG carriers at a cost of US$235 million per ship, which are scheduled to be delivered in March and July 2027, respectively.

New LNG carriers contract

On the same day, Taiping 26 and Taiping 27 signed bareboat charter contracts with SDME (SG) respectively.

The announcement disclosed that the cargo capacity of this type of LNG carrier is not less than 175,000 m3, and the actual load capacity is 92,500 metric tons with ambient temperature of 20 °C.
