The Swedish Maritime Administration and Ports of Stockholm are creating a joint maritime traffic center in Stockholm. This collaboration aims to improve the efficiency and safety of shipping traffic along Sweden’s coast, from Oxelösund in the south to the northern regions, reports Port Of Stockholm.
Cooperation Agreement
A cooperation agreement has been signed between the Swedish Maritime Administration and Ports of Stockholm to create a joint maritime traffic center.
This center will be located at the Värtahamnen port in Stockholm. The collaboration aims to improve service and utilize economies of scale by coordinating resources and skills.
The new center will manage freight and passenger traffic along Sweden’s east and north coasts, from Oxelösund northward.
It will centralize vital functions like traffic management, alarm management, and navigation warnings to enhance maritime traffic safety and efficiency.
Ports of Stockholm’s CEO, Magdalena Bosson, highlights that the joint center will optimize vessel arrivals and departures while improving port safety.
