Josephides’ Profile and Vision
Josephides, this year celebrating 30 years on the chamber’s staff, said he was more committed than ever “to build upon the solid foundation already in place and advance the interests of Cyprus shipping, while upholding our industry’s vital role on the global stage”.
Kazakos’ New Role
Thomas Kazakos, who has also been with the chamber for 30 years, will take over as secretary-general of the International Chamber of Shipping. His new role becomes official in April 2024, with a transition period extending to June.
Chamber’s Legacy and Membership
Founded in 1989 as the Cyprus Shipping Council with 17 members, the chamber now represents around 200 shipowning, shipmanagement, chartering, and shipping-related companies. It continues to play a pivotal role in the global maritime sector.
Leadership Transition
The leadership changes at the Cyprus Shipping Chamber mark a new chapter, with both Josephides and Kazakos taking on critical roles to strengthen the shipping industry at national and international levels.
