Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” LINE) held the “K” LINE Group Environmental Awards 2024 Ceremony on June 7, 2024. These awards, established in 2015, honor outstanding environmental preservation activities by both executives and employees across the “K” LINE Group. Celebrating its 10th year, the ceremony recognized initiatives that exemplify originality, challenge level, contribution, continuity, and potential for widespread impact.
Award Categories and Recipients
The awards included a Grand Award, four Excellence Awards, and two Special Awards. Entries came from group companies in Japan and overseas, highlighting diverse and innovative environmental efforts.
Grand Award
- Daito Corporation – For reducing fuel consumption in tugboats through slow steaming and proper trim adjustment, achieving a 5% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Excellence Awards
- K Line Pte Ltd. – For switching to drone deliveries for supplies to ships, reducing GHG emissions, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing safety.
- K Line (Deutschland) GmbH – For using robots to clean the hulls of car carriers, reducing GHG emissions, protecting biodiversity by collecting microplastics, and reusing collected algae to generate biogas.
- K Line Logistics, Ltd. – For establishing a recycling scheme for packaging materials used in imported cargo, leading to cost savings and reduced resource consumption.
- K Line America, Inc. – For promoting a “No Print Week” to reduce paper consumption, encouraging employee participation through tree planting and other efforts.
