“K” LINE Group Marks Record Participation In Global Cleanup Drive For World Oceans Day

In honor of World Oceans Day (June 8), the “K” LINE Group organized a global cleanup campaign involving its employees and their families. The initiative, aimed at promoting ocean conservation and biodiversity, took place over a two-month period from late May to early July 2025. As a reflection of its growing environmental commitment, the Group achieved record-breaking participation and waste collection levels during this year’s campaign.

Over 600 Participants Join Hands for a Cleaner Planet

More than 600 employees and family members from 17 group companies worldwide voluntarily participated in the cleanup efforts. The team collected approximately 10,700 liters of garbage from various locations such as beaches, riversides, and office surroundings—key areas that contribute to marine plastic waste. With land-based waste making up 70–80% of ocean plastic, these cleanups play a crucial role in protecting marine ecosystems. The Group also announced plans to make donations to environmental organizations based on the number of participants involved.

Strengthening Biodiversity and Sustainability Goals

In addition to tackling climate change, the “K” LINE Group has prioritized ocean biodiversity conservation in its environmental strategy since FY2023. Cleanup campaigns like this are not only symbolic but serve to raise employee awareness and engagement in sustainability practices.
