Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” LINE) has announced that its London-based subsidiary, “K” LINE LNG SHIPPING (UK) LIMITED, will be renamed “K” LINE ENERGY SHIPPING (UK) LIMITED (KLES), effective April 1, 2025. This move aligns with the company’s strategy to expand beyond LNG transportation and strengthen its role in the decarbonization and energy transition sectors.

Expansion into Decarbonization and Liquefied CO2 Transport

The rebranding reflects KLES’s wider focus on energy transportation, including the development of a liquefied CO2 (LCO2) shipping business. This expansion supports growing European demand for carbon capture and storage (CCS) solutions, reinforcing KLES’s commitment to low-carbon and decarbonization strategies.

Additionally, KLES will integrate the Carbon Neutral Development Group of “K” LINE (EUROPE) LIMITED, further strengthening its expertise in sustainable energy solutions.

Strengthened Operations and Market Position

KLES aims to provide high-quality transportation services by refining its shore-marine coordination, customer-centric sales support, and advanced ship management. Leveraging its strong track record in LNG transport, the company plans to deliver reliable and efficient energy shipping solutions.

With its headquarters at 6th Floor, 5 Aldermanbury Square, London, England, KLES will operate under Kiyoshi Sekiya’s leadership, maintaining a share capital of 40 million U.S. dollars.
