Japanese liner Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line) has revealed plans to reorganize its ship management companies in order to upgrade services.

Merger of bulk shippers:

Two K Line vessel management companies, ship management company Taiyo Nippon Kisen and ship owner and manager Escobal Japan, will be merged on July 1, 2017.

Both companies currently manage bulk carriers and vehicle carriers.

Consolidation to ensure success:

Merging the companies will ensure the success of the group’s ship management system reorganization while consolidating the companies’ knowledge.

With the move, the company can also more easily implement environmental initiatives.

K Line’s new, merged ship management company is tentatively named K Line RORO and Bulk Ship Management but also retains the name Taiyo Nippon Kisen.

Safe, reliable and secure:

K Line will have three specialized ship management companies after the merger: K Line Ship Management Company dedicated to containerships, tankers and gas carriers; K Line LNG Shipping UK dedicated to LNG carriers, and Taiyo Nippon Kisen dedicated to car carriers and dry bulk carriers.

It proposes the merger as a way to further ensure safe and reliable navigation, service upgrades and greater security.

K Line will have 100% ownership in the new ship management company and the company Taiyo Nippon Kisen will retain its office.

The company will have 3 domestic and 8 overseas offices in 7 countries and a capital value equivalent to US$3.5 million.
