After a year and a half of study, HMM PSA New-port Terminal (HPNT) and LeTech, the manufacturer of automatic dispensers, have produced Korea’s first automatic container seal dispenser, reports ContainerNews.
The seal dispenser automatically closes the door, cutting the processing time by more than ten minutes thereby makes it easy for trailer drivers to get the seal after picking up an empty container.
Why HPNT-developed automatic seal dispenser?
The automatic dispenser works on a basic operating system that reads the EIR bar code or the vehicle number. Thus the drivers no longer have to go through time-consuming procedures such as parking, visiting and sealing the gate control room, and filling out the receipt book, making their tasks more convenient and less time-consuming and has a basic operating system that reads the EIR bar code or the vehicle number.
How to use the dispenser?
- Approach a self-sealing dispenser.
- Scan the barcode on the Equipment Interchange Receipt (EIR) or type in the vehicle number.
- The seal is given to a trailer driver.
According to a report, over 60,000 seals were distributed at the Korean Terminal HPNT in Busan in the last four months, delivering seals to the shipping companies HMM, CMA, and CGM, with an error rate of less than 0.1 per cent.
