KVH Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: KVHI) has announced a distribution partnership agreement with Eutelsat OneWeb, a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) connectivity provider. This strategic collaboration will allow KVH to offer Eutelsat OneWeb’s LEO connectivity services for both commercial and leisure vessels, reports KVH. 

Enhancing Connectivity Services

Under the terms of the deal, KVH aims to enhance its connectivity offerings through Eutelsat OneWeb’s LEO satellite constellation. The partnership aligns with KVH’s commitment to providing exceptional connectivity, content, and services through its integrated multi-orbit, multi-channel solution, KVH ONE®.

Optimizing Hybrid Portfolio

Brent Bruun, KVH President, and CEO, highlights the synergy, stating that Eutelsat OneWeb’s LEO technology will complement and extend KVH ONE network’s existing hybrid services. The goal is to deliver outstanding low-latency connectivity for maritime customers globally.

Expansive Satellite Constellation

OneWeb’s LEO network consists of over 630 satellites, providing enterprise-grade broadband connectivity services. The company is rapidly expanding its network and ground infrastructure to meet the growing demands of the global maritime industry.

Addressing Industry Challenges

Carole Plessy, Eutelsat OneWeb’s Vice President, Maritime, and Europe, emphasizes the partnership’s role in addressing industry challenges related to sustainability, governance standards, and operational performance. Good connectivity, she notes, underpins these improvements.

Seamless Integration with KVH Terminals

Chad Impey, KVH Senior Vice President for Global Sales, expresses enthusiasm about bringing Eutelsat OneWeb’s maritime service to seafarers. The plan is to offer it both as a standalone service and seamlessly integrated with KVH’s existing TracNet™ and TracPhone® terminals, which are widely installed on vessels worldwide.
