Excelerate Energy’s floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) will have an integrated propulsion system that will both power and propel the vessel, reports riviera.
Under construction at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea, the FSRU will also be fitted with technology for optimised vessel energy management and performance.
11th FSRU
The new vessel will be the 11th FSRU to join Excelerate Energy’s fleet, and the contract means a third of the US-based company’s fleet will be powered by GE Power Conversion’s integrated electrical propulsion system.
Sea green integrated power
Power Conversion will supply the vessel with its SeaGreen integrated power and propulsion system, equipped with high power density induction motor technology.
GE Power Conversion general manager, France, Eric Cotelle explained, “Power Conversion is proud to provide HHI and its customer Excelerate with a state-of-the-art integrated electrical propulsion system and support them in delivering on energy efficiency and electrification, as part of the maritime and energy sector transition.”
