Copenhagen-based bulk carrier operator Lauritzen Bulkers has acquired Alexander & Blake, a Canadian breakbulk company specializing in parceling services. The acquisition strengthens Lauritzen’s chartering and freight capabilities, particularly in the North and South American markets, according to Lloyd’s List
Seamless Integration
Rasmus Francis Jensen, Vice President of Chartering at Lauritzen Bulkers and now VP of the new venture, highlighted Alexander & Blake’s strong competencies, stating that the company will add value to Lauritzen Bulkers’ global shipping services from day one. The acquired firm will continue operations under the Alexander & Blake – by Lauritzen Bulkers brand, maintaining its workforce and customer contracts.
Focus on Parceling Services
Alexander & Blake primarily facilitates trade flows between South America, North America, and the Caribbean. While it does not own vessels, it charters tonnage as needed, complementing Lauritzen’s fleet of 90-110 geared handysize and ultramax bulkers.
Leadership Update
The acquisition follows the recent departure of Lauritzen Bulkers’ CEO, Martin Evgang, who stepped down due to health-related concerns. The company reassured stakeholders that its organizational structure and strategy remain unchanged despite the leadership transition.
