IRS Round Table Addresses Human Element In Shipping

The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS), an esteemed member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), has announced a significant industry event as part of London International Shipping Week 2023. The IRS Round Table, scheduled for 10:00am on September 12 at Rubens at the Palace in London, will focus on the critical issues of decarbonisation and the human element in shipping under the theme ‘Seascape 2030′, reports sea news.

A Distinguished Panel of Experts

The high-profile panel will feature industry leaders including shipping economist Dr. Martin Stopford, Savraj Mehta of North Standard, Lee Martindale from Wartsila, and Cara Carter from Halcyon Recruitment. The discussion will be moderated by Navigate PR’s Penny Thomas.

The Human Element in Sustainable Technology

Arun Sharma, Executive Chairman of the IRS, emphasised the importance of the human element in the era of sustainability and technological change. “The shift towards a new fuel ecosystem and technological innovations will have a considerable impact on the industry’s workforce. The human element remains pivotal for the adoption and success of sustainable technologies. We aim to explore these themes in-depth, inviting insights from various stakeholders to collaboratively address impending challenges,” said Sharma.

Additional Technical Seminar

Apart from the Round Table, the IRS will also host a Technical Seminar at 9:00 am on September 13 at the Little Ship Club on Upper Thames Street in London. The seminar will delve into specific topics such as Decarbonisation, Alternate Fuels, and the Human Element, offering a comprehensive view of the issues at hand.
