Leaking Propane Gas Tank on Board Ship

The Nauru public has been told to keep well clear of a cargo ship Capitaine Quiros, which is moored near one of the island’s phosphate cantilevers.

The Ports Authority also said fishermen should not use mobile phones, cigarette lighters or hand held VHF radios, when in the ship’s vicinity.

It said it was a precaution because of a leaking propane gas tank on board the ship.

The Authority said its staff and police would patrol the sea area around the ship to ensure fishermen in fishing boats and people using canoes did not get close.
