Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd has announced a significant contract to supply ship-to-shore (STS) container cranes to the West Coast of the United States, specifically for TraPac Oakland, a leading container terminal operator in California. This marks a historic milestone for Liebherr as it represents the first shipment of its STS cranes to this region.

Cranes Specifications: The contract includes two advanced STS cranes with impressive specifications:

  • Outreach: 66 meters (216 feet)
  • Lift Height: 53 meters (173.83 feet)
  • Span: 30.48 meters (100 feet)
  • Lifting Capacity: 66 long tonnes in twin-lift mode, making them suitable for handling the largest container vessels.

Following a $67 million expansion that nearly doubled the terminal’s size, these new cranes will facilitate increased cargo volumes and accommodate larger vessels, thereby enhancing operational flexibility and berth productivity.
