Like to get naked while dining in London?

For now keep your clothes on, since more than 32,000 people have signed up for a chance to dine at Bunyadi, a pop-up restaurant billed as the UK capital’s first “naked food experience.”

The naked restaurant is opening in June, the central London venue will offer gowns, changing rooms and lockers to guests wanting to digest the sight of their own exposed skin while getting their chow on.

Only 42 diners a time will fit in the restaurant — at an as-yet-undisclosed location — meaning that many of those hoping for a naked lunch, or dinner, will be disappointed.

“I’m both surprised and excited by the response,” Seb Lyall, whose company Lollipop is behind the venture.

It would be fair to say The Bunyadi is a new pop-up restaurant with a difference.

Not only are the ingredients au naturel, so too, if they choose to be, are the customers!

That’s right, if you’re feeling so inclined, you’re very welcome to remove your clothing.

Sebastian Lyall, the brains behind ‘the naked restaurant’, joined Julia Hartley-Brewer to fully explain the concept.

There are three key factors, according to Lyall…

Number One: “The trend of healthy food, using clean food, naked food. Our food is home-grown. Our cutlery is edible.  We don’t have anything made of plastic, metal and we won’t use electricity or gas.”

Number Two: “Liberation from technology.  We all get bothered by people on their phones while eating. So you can’t bring any kind of technology in.”

Number Three: “This is where the [clothing] option comes in.  We are creating an atmosphere inside the restaurant, where if you feel comfortable, you can take your gown off – which we have given you when you arrive.”

The venture may not be everyone’s idea of a way to spend evening, but apparently there have already been more than 10,500 reservation requests and the number is rising rapidly.
