Liquid Momentum: Incremental Gains In Crude And Refined Oil Sub-Indices

Recently, China’s coastal bulk freight index witnessed a significant 11.9% month-on-month increase, as reported by the Shanghai Shipping Exchange (SSE). The composite index, measuring transportation costs in the coastal shipping market, reached 1,135.21, indicating notable shifts in the sector’s dynamics.

Coastal Bulk Freight Dynamics in December

During this period, the sub-index for coal experienced the most significant month-on-month surge at 15.8 per cent, surpassing other categories like grain and metal ore. Meanwhile, the sub-indices for crude oil and refined oil also saw increases of 0.5 per cent and 2 per cent, respectively, contributing to the overall upward trend in China’s coastal bulk freight index.
