Lloyd’s Register (LR) has established a strategic partnership with China Cruises following its full classification of Adora Magic City, China’s first large luxury cruise ship built domestically. Leveraging extensive local experience and global technical expertise, LR continues to strengthen its presence in the cruise sector. 

Strengthening China’s Cruise Industry Through Strategic Partnership

Holding over 40% of the market share in the global fleet of large cruise ships, LR has been a leading figure in the industry for nearly 20 years. The company supports cruise projects worldwide through four Cruise Centers of Expertise located in China, the UK, Italy, and the US, with a team of more than 220 specialized cruise surveyors. Their services cover the full lifecycle from design and construction to operation and management.

Francesco Ruisi, VP Global Passenger Ship Segment Director at LR, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting China’s cruise ship development. He highlighted LR’s global experience and technical know-how as key to aiding China’s move toward building large cruise ships independently. LR aims to promote the integrated growth of the cruise supply chain and help position China’s cruise sector on the global stage with a strong focus on green and sustainable development.

Li Ming, general manager of China Cruises and chairman of Adora Cruise, welcomed the partnership, noting it would enhance their technical strength and international reach. He also stressed the importance of collaboration in advancing cruise safety, sustainability, and technological innovation.
