LNG Pioneer Upgrades Its PSV To “Tri-fuel” Vessel

Harvey Gulf upgraded its Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) to the first “Tri-fuel” vessel in the U.S., days an article published in OEDigital.

Harvey Gulf International Marine (HGIM) is a pioneer in the use of LNG as a fuel in the offshore sector. 

It has become the first vessel owner and only company in the US with a ‘tri-fuel’ vessel and a vessel bunkering facility selling both diesel fuel and LNG.

First tri-fuel PSV

Harvey Gulf, announced completing an upgrade of its platform supply vessel Harvey Energy, making it the first “tri-fuel” PSV in the U.S.

Wartsila battery-power system

Harvey completed the installation of a Wartsila battery-power system on the PSV which was already a dual-fuel vessel capable of fully operating on LNG or diesel.

New diesel bunkering facility

 At the same time, Harvey said it had started operations at its new diesel bunkering facility in Port Fourchon, La., pairing it with Harvey’s LNG bunkering operations there.  

GE battery-power system

Harvey will also complete the installation of a GE battery-power system on the PSV Harvey Champion in September.
