2 of 5 LSMGO samples in Italy’s Naples have had off-specification flash point levels when they have been tested in the past two week,reported engine online.
The two samples had flash points of 57°C and 58°C, which is below the minimum 60°C SOLAS limit for marine distillates.
Risk of fire and explosion
A low flash point can increase the risk of fire and explosion onboard vessels and in fuel storage areas.
