- MacGregor has received an order from Vertom Group to supply fully electric cargo cranes for four multipurpose vessels to be built at Chowgule Shipyard in India, with deliveries starting in 2026.

MacGregor, a leader in maritime cargo and load handling, has secured an order from the Netherlands-based Vertom Group to deliver fully electric cargo cranes for four upcoming multipurpose vessels. The vessels will be constructed at Chowgule Shipyard in India, with deliveries set to begin in 2026.
This project marks MacGregor’s first-ever delivery of electric cranes for ships built in India, and reflects a significant leap forward in expanding sustainable maritime technologies into developing shipbuilding markets.
Advanced Technology for a Greener Future
Each of the four vessels will be equipped with:
- 2 x SWL 80t – 18m fully electric cargo cranes
- Order booked in Q2 2025
- Designed to improve energy efficiency, safety, and operational reliability compared to traditional hydraulic cranes.
The order was made possible through close collaboration with VARYA Tech Pvt Ltd, MacGregor’s local sales partner in India.
