A.P. Moller – Maersk, a global leader in container shipping, has partnered with Inmarsat Maritime, a subsidiary of Viasat, to enhance satellite communications across its extensive fleet. This initiative is part of Maersk’s broader digital transformation, ensuring vessels are seamlessly integrated with shore operations and equipped for future technological advancements.

The Floating Office Concept

As part of its strategic roadmap, Maersk envisions its vessels as fully functional “floating offices,” offering improved connectivity for crew members and enabling enhanced operational efficiency. This transformation supports cloud-based applications, automation, and a more cohesive digital infrastructure, positioning Maersk for future advancements, including autonomous vessel operations.

Seamless and Secure Connectivity

Inmarsat Maritime’s cutting-edge communication services, integrating Ka-band and ultra-resilient L-band networks, will provide uninterrupted, high-speed global connectivity. This infrastructure ensures a reliable link between ships and shore, optimizing real-time data exchange and enhancing maritime operations.
