17

Maersk has officially launched operations at the Port of Milazzo, reinforcing its logistics network in Southern Italy. Positioned near the strategic Strait of Messina, the port offers enhanced accessibility to both Sicily and Calabria, improving regional connectivity and service flexibility.

Strategic Location and Terminal Capabilities

The new service was inaugurated with the arrival of the m/n Sider London on 17th July 2025, routed through the Cagliari hub. Operations are being handled at the Duferco Terminal Mediterraneo (DTM)—Sicily’s first private container and multipurpose terminal—located in the Giammoro industrial zone, making Milazzo a key logistics point in the region.

Container Variety and Integrated Transport

The Milazzo service supports a range of cargo types, including dry standard, refrigerated, IMO (excluding classes 1 and 7), and out-of-gauge containers. It is seamlessly integrated with Maersk’s inland transport solutions, enabling smooth, end-to-end cargo movement across Southern Italy and beyond.

With operations now underway at Milazzo, Maersk enhances its regional presence and strengthens its commitment to offering efficient, flexible logistics solutions throughout Southern Italy.
