Maersk Hails US-China Tariff Pause as Positive for Customers

On Monday, May 12th, 2025, Danish shipping giant Maersk (MAERSKb.CO) acknowledged the agreement between China and the United States to implement a 90-day pause on tariffs and reciprocal duties as a positive development, reports Reuters. 

Tariff Reduction Agreement 

In an emailed statement, Maersk expressed its hope that the 90-day tariff reduction agreement between the U.S. and China will serve as a basis for the two parties to reach a permanent deal. The company emphasized the need for long-term predictability that their customers require for their planning and operations.

Maersk also stated that their customers have gained 90 days of clarity with reduced tariffs, and they are actively working to assist them in maximizing the benefits of this window of opportunity.
