Maersk Names Latest Vessel Of Its Dual-Fuel Methanol Fleet “Alexandra Mærsk” In Felixstowe

Maersk recently marked the naming of its newest dual-fuel methanol container ship, “Alexandra Maersk,” as stated in the company’s announcement. “Alexandra Maersk” is the sixth vessel in Maersk’s owned fleet with the capability to operate on methanol in both its primary and auxiliary engines, reports en.portnews.

It is part of a series of 18 large dual-fuel methanol vessels set for delivery in 2024 and 2025, and each vessel has a capacity of over 16,000 standard containers (TEU). Maersk’s ECO Delivery Ocean initiative focuses on using low GHG emission fuels such as bio-diesel, which is already in use across the Maersk fleet, and now includes green methanol for the newest vessels, like “Alexandra Maersk.”
