A.P. Moller – Maersk is looking for a Biofuel Manager to join their newly established Future Fuels team and help them explore, assess and mature new carbon neutral fuels for their fleet.
The future fuels team is a part of Maersk newly established Decarbonisation Group, which also covers areas like regulatory issues as well as customer engagement.
Key responsibilities
- Scouting for new promising advanced biofuels for use in our container ships.
- Continuous evaluation of the state-of-the-art for advanced biofuels and new trends.
- Feasibility studies of selected fuels/technologies within advanced biofuels – covering economics (energy balance), technical readiness level, sustainability, scalability and operationability (technical viability with engines, etc.).
- Dialogue and collaboration with various external advanced biofuel producers and developers.
- Project management of Maersk’s own initiative of developing a lignin-alcohol fuel in collaboration with external partners.
- Chemical process engineering support related to pilot production of our own lignin-alcohol fuel – incl. how to alter the process, change equipment, etc. to make the fuel a commercially viable fuel.
- Help build and maintain a long-term portfolio of sustainable fuel solutions to support the APMM decarbonization roadmap.
Desired profile
A chemical engineer, process chemist, chemist, biochemist or similar – with at least 8-10 years of relevant professional experience.
Preferred skills
- Deep understanding of and technical expertise within the area of advanced biofuels or similar.
- Preferably experience with developing and commercialising biofuels or similar biorefinery products.
- Preferably experience with advanced biofuels characterization and perhaps engine testing.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent communication skills and enjoy communicating complex matters to a wider audience. Excellent English language skills, both orally and in writing.
- Thrive working in a fast-paced environment, where the ability to prioritize is key.
- As a person you are analytical, structured, comfortable working with details, meticulous and outgoing.
- You genuinely enjoy working in a team and contribute towards common goals.
- A go-do person, who is able to generate results and help us advance on our decarbonization agenda.
The number of working hours will in average be 37 hours/week.
