MAN Energy Solution and NCL
The MoU between MAN Energy Solution and NCL covers the retrofit of a medium-speed MAN 48/60 engine to make it eligible for dual-fuel diesel/methanol operation.
It contributes to a multi-stage project with the third and final stage which entails field testing and engine handover to NCLH for commercial process.
Key points
MAN PrimeServ head of retrofit and upgrades Bernd Siebert said that methanol as a fuel is increasingly serving as a choice within the market. It is a clean and productive future fuel that offers a way to decarbonize through substantial greenhouse gas and is net zero when generated from renewable energy sources.
This memorandum emphasizes the mutual obligation to curtail shipping’s environmental footprint.
