Marine AI has begun testing a pioneering system in Plymouth and Portsmouth that enables uncrewed vessels to communicate with conventional ships using natural language, similar to human operators. Unlike current autonomous systems that depend on rigid protocols or constant human oversight, Marine AI’s technology allows for responsive and context-aware dialogue in complex situations.

Testing with Royal Navy Vessels

The trials involve Marine AI’s Oceanus12 working alongside Royal Navy vessels, including the Patrick Blackett and XV Excalibur. Master mariners are evaluating responses to ensure the system is safe, reliable, and operationally sound.
