- Marine fuel oil remained unchanged, while low-sulfur fuel oil dropped 15%.

In January 2025, 4.46 million metric tons (mt) of different marine fuel grades were bunkered at Singapore, the largest bunkering port in the world. This was a fall of 9.1% compared to the 4.91 million mt bunkered during January 2024, as per statistics released by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), reports Manifold Times.
Breakdown of Marine Fuel Deliveries
Marine fuel oil deliveries didn’t change from last year and stood at 1.66 million mt. Low-sulfur fuel oil fell by 15% to 2.43 million mt from 2.86 million mt in January 2024. Ultra-low sulfur fuel oil increased 100%, with 900 mt this year compared to none in 2024. Marine gas oil dropped by 77%, with a mere 3,100 mt delivered, down from 13,500 mt in the previous year. Marine diesel oil did not record any deliveries during the month.
Bio-Blended Fuel Deliveries
Bio-blended forms of marine fuel oil, low-sulfur fuel oil, ultra low-sulfur fuel oil, marine gas oil, and marine diesel oil were supplied in different amounts. Bio-blended marine fuel oil rose by 100%, with 16,000 mt supplied compared to last year’s zero. Bio-blended low-sulfur fuel oil experienced a 103% increase, with 92,000 mt being delivered, compared to 45,300 mt in 2024. No deliveries of bio-blended ultra low sulfur fuel oil, marine gas oil, or marine diesel oil were made.
LNG and Methanol Sales
Sales of LNG were at 6,600 mt, a 36.5% drop from the 10,400 mt delivered in January 2024. Methanol experienced no deliveries for the month.
