Maritime Innovation Week Agenda set with a robust three-day programme scheduled from November 19-21. This year’s event, titled Accelerate and Amplify: Making Innovation Happen, will be a LondonBT Tower and 2050 Maritime Innovation Hub at the Port of Tyne Collaborative venture. Global industry leaders, policymakers, and sustainability experts will meet together to focus on topics involving reducing emissions, emerging technologies, and sustainable partnerships, reports Port of Tyne.

Day 1: Maritime Futures

A forward-looking search into maritime technology and trends commandeers the early part of the week. The day will be set in tone by keynote speaker Mike Kane MP, Minister for Aviation, Maritime and Security. Presentations will come from The Earthshot Prize, Maersk, DP World, and the Port of Tyne. Discussions on how 5G, artificial intelligence, and sustainable practices are reshaping maritime operations will gain recognition of the advancement changing the future of the industry.

Day 2: Innovation into Action

Day 2 has more hands-on discussions on the application of sustainable innovations. As part of a keynote, Dame Julia Hoggett, CEO of the London Stock Exchange, will be joined by panels from the Port of Valencia and Connected Places Catapult. Sessions on funding opportunities, pathways for commercialization, and strategies for scaling sustainable solutions across the industry will be led by BT, Ericsson, and the Clean Maritime Research Hub.

Day 3: Innovation for People and Placemaking

Day three will focus on how North East skills and community can accelerate maritime innovation. Cleantech initiatives will be presented by Hitachi Rail, Equinor, and Space North East England. The final day will culminate in a fireside chat on skill development with the North East Combined Authority regarding how maritime sector growth is a double-edged sword with regard to local growth against sustainable workforce growth.

The event focuses on practical solutions for accelerating decarbonisation, advancing technology, and scaling sustainable fuels. It serves as a platform for innovators, leaders, and policymakers to collaborate, share expertise, and turn vision into action.”

Several high-profile partners will support the event, including the British Ports Association, BT, Connected Places Catapult, the Department for Transport, Frazer-Nash Consultancy, Hitachi, North East Automotive Alliance, ORE Catapult, Space North East England, and the Port of Tyne. Maritime Innovation Week 2024 will be the most transformational event for the maritime industry’s path towards a sustainable future.
