The UK’s Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) has initiated efforts to modernize the way the UK Ship Register operates and has an array of new initiatives rolled under its sleeves.
Fee structure to be revised:
On Monday, the MCA has decided to increase its fee structure for the UK Ship Register to above 2016 levels, attendees heard at the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Maritime and Ports.
The registry has also decided to improve its response time for enquiries to a single working day and for handling complex issues it takes upto 3 working days. By increasing shop registry fees it could provide higher level of services to its client. The register also plans to roll out a package fee option in April 2018.
Online portal to be unveiled:
A new online ship registry service will be included and will be unveiled in September at London International Shipping Week (LISW). The MCA hopes the service will be completed by Christmas this year.
