Issue: Scandinavia and Baltic cruise cancelled halfway due to a mechanical problem.

Vessel: Viking Star

Journey: 15-day cruise from Stockholm to Bergen, via the Baltic.

“Viking has decided to cancel the remaining portion of this cruise,” said a statement from the cruise line.  “This specific mechanical issue is highly unusual and all guests will receive compensation for the inconvenience.”

The 930-passenger ship – the first of three identikit vessels for the company’s brand-new ocean-going fleet – was launched by Viking in April.

All guests were offered options for continuing their journey to Bergen or returning home from Tallinn at the line’s expense.  The next cruise was scheduled to depart from Bergen, on Saturday.
