Van der Velden Marine is all set to supply its largest rudders to five 20,000 teu container ships ordered by China Cosco Shipping Corporation. The rudders will be delivered to Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co and Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding.
ART rudders:
The rudders were placed on orders during 2015 will be delivered soon with installation set to be completed in 2018.
The company will be supplying its largest Atlantic rudders with ART (asymmetric rudder technology) design and bulb, each weighing over 250 tonnes.
Optimised rudders:
The rudders have been optimised to offer minimum cavitation at high speeds. They are fitted with water-lubricated synthetic bearings which are long lasting and require little maintenance. The rudders are also designed for easy dismounting when inspections and repairs are needed.
