On September 1, a mega container ship made an emergency manoeuvre to avoid collision with a sport boat.
What happened?
The mega container ‘Mette Maersk’ made an emergency manoeuvre in order to avoid collision with sport boat on Elbe. The vessel was enroute to Hamburg when the incident occurred.
Ship endangered:
The incident occurred when the captain of the speed boat ignored the alert calls. The mega container ship had to navigate through the narrow paths in strait of Elba.
The mega container ship safety was compromised due to the navigation change.
Speed boat detained:
The water police later detained the boat, finding 30 year old skipper under intoxication.
